What April Weather Feels Like
The sun is significantly more powerful than in the UK; and with the bright skies, Florida temperatures that look the same as they are in the UK do not feel the same. Even if the thermometer says it's a pleasant 25°C, the sun has a real bite to it, so it feels much more intense: less British spring afternoon, more hot August day. In April Florida’s humidity begins to rise. While it's not yet the wall of heat you feel in July and August, the humidity makes the temperatures feel hotter and the air does start to have a heavier feeling towards the end of the month.
Evening chills and cool mornings have disappeared at this point, and the need for a winter layer in Florida is gone. Nights and mornings feel more comfortable, only needing a light layer for early entry and rope drop mornings. You can safely leave that warm hoody you’ll probably still want on at home in the wardrobe, and opt for a lighter weight option.
It isn’t quite yet the start of rainy season in Florida, but towards the middle of the month you’ll notice there are more showers so a light waterproof is needed. The rain doesn’t feel the same as in the UK. Unlike a grey day in Manchester where it drizzles for six hours, Florida rain tends to be a 20-minute power-shower followed by blue skies. The air just tends to feel clearer after it’s rained.
